John "Marty" Martin, Jr.
Educator. Member of the Capital School District School Board of Education

Introduction
Welcome to my website. I am John "Marty" Martin, Jr. I have over twenty years of experience as an educator. I have successfully served as a teacher, coach, coordinator and school administrator. I am also a popular emcee, speaker, and sports broadcaster.
Many athletes, coaches parents and fans recognize my tag lines "Sheeee (or Heeee) makes it!"
Mission
My professional goal is to work with a team to serve students and families with the highest professionalism. My experience in the classroom as a teacher, in the building as a leader and as a board member and past-president of the Capital School District Board of Education speak to my competence, enthusiasm, and capacity as an innovator.
I aim to continue my service as an educator and board member. I understand the current challenges that we face to help all students learn and prepare for successful lives. I know how to implement classroom and schoolwide interventions that yield immediate, sustainable growth.
I bring a specific set of experiences and skills that I use to to work with our board to provide responsible governance. Moreover, I know that it is the job of the board to provide legislative oversight and even more importantly, respect the role of the superintendent and educators to provide for all students' academic, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being.
The shorter version is this: The Board legislates while the schools' personnel educates. Respecting these boundaries while working together can lead to an improved experience for all stakeholders.
Philosophy
School life should be pleasant. School should prepare students for a productive life. The district's atmosphere must be fair and orderly to ensure that students and teachers can learn and grow. Schools face constant change. The school board should operate efficiently and ethically. The board must also understand how to work with the school leaders, educators, family and most importantly, students when facing persistent changes.
Now that I am elected to the board, I will constantly address educational matters that affect the Capital School District. I will work with the other members to expedite meetings, improve professional development, and provide all stakeholders greater access to Capital School District policies and procedures.
I was honored to be officially endorsed by the Capital Educators and Paraprofessionals Association (CEA). This organization was the only occasion where each of the candidates was invited to interview and share our respective platforms.
Thank you for visiting this page. I will coninue to to work for all students as an educator and a board member. I am grateful to theCapital School District community for electing me to serve you. As promised, I will be a voice for all, I will work to improve the perception of our fine district and I will work to improve community engagement and participation in every aspect of our schools and school governance.
Thank you, again. Sincerely, Marty
